Tonight, there are going to be two guest authors what will give you an update about all that we did and saw today.  Parker Toon and Layne are here for your entertainment....  Or at least ours.

Hola! Mucho Gusto. You will have to forgive us for our bad english cuz we have been dislocated from the language and American customs entirely for the last 48 hours...Just kidding...we talk english all the time, had pancakes for breakfast, dominos pizza for lunch, and Justin Evans still yells "FREEDOM" every 5 minutes.

Well in all reality, our day was amazing and a culture shock. It was evident that we were not in good ol' Walla Walla anymore when there was an armed Guatemalan security officer with a sawed off shotgun in front of Burger King (By the way, Layne Peters still would make the whoppiest Whopper in all of the country if he continued his profession overseas). We continued to the complex that we are staying at and unloaded all of our stuff before everybody was allowed to take an hour long Phat Nap. We then went and checked out El Refugio (Woman's Shelter) to see the projects that they had prepared for our arrival. The jobs include installing a fence around the backyard area for safety reasons. Currently there is a poorly built fence bordering a Phat cliff that doesn't offer good protection for the children that also live in the woman's shelter with their mothers. We then traveled to a private Christian school that the Missionaries (Mark and Kim) have connections with. We took a look around and then played a high intensity, full of laughter game of soccer. Miguel Baza got the Most Improved award for the girls team and Layne Peters merciless slide tackles that took out countless females including Chloe Pearson won him MVP of the day.

We all agree that the best part of the day was getting to know each other, especially in the evening time. We had a great chicken and rice meal with Stephanie's favorite side, sweet rolls. After dinner Doug had us sit in a circle and share about what walls that we desired for God to break through in these next two weeks. Allison Wanichek had the best answer saying that her upstairs bathroom needed the back wall blown out...just kidding. Getting to know everybody on a real and vulnerable level was incredible. Our team is off to a great start and will keep you posted on all the amazing things God is doing in the future!
